Salva was nearly drowned by a nervous boy trying to escape the rebels. The water is flooded with crocodiles and bullets but Salva and over 20,000 boys survived.
They traveled from the Itang refugee camp in Ethiopia to a refugee camp in Kakuma, Kenya.

Salva and his peers finally arrive at the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya which took them a year to walk to.
Salva gets settled in the camp but after a short while he leaves because he doesn't enjoy being there. He travels to the Ifo refugee camp.
The last camp Salva stays at is the Ifo Refugee Camp because after this he moves to America. He returns to South Sudan to visit his father in the hospital.
