Storyboard Text

  • Women's jobs were primarily to take care of the house and the children before the Industrial Revolution. Women were stuck at home while men worked and made money.
  • I never have the chance to work! All I do is cook, clean, and take car of the children.
  • During the industrial revolution, women began working in factories for significantly less than their male counterpart. Women worked in horrible conditions and got paid very little. This allowed women to see the inequality between men and women and showed them it needed to be changed.
  • We work so hard for almost no money!
  • We worked just as hard as the men! Why are we not equal to them?
  • The Seneca Falls Convention in 1848, was the start of the Women's Rights's movement in America. Here, the women rewrote the Declaration of Independence to include women.
  • We are equal to men! We must make everybody know that!
  • The founding fathers may have forgotten about us, but we will make sure we are equal!
  • Women activists such as Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and the Grimke sisters shared their beliefs and petitioned for equal rights all over the country.
  • We must fight for equal rights, like the right to vote!
  • Women of the United States, we are equal to men!
  • Susan B. Anthony and many other women get arrested for illegally voting in the election, showing the dedication women have to getting equal rights.
  • Men do not get arrested for voting! Why should I?
  • In 1920, the 19th Amendment is ratified giving women the right to vote in the United States. Many women suffragists like Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B Anthony died before the amendment passed.
  • Finally we get the right to vote!
  • Women have taken a giant step towards equality!
