Napoleon's Invasion of Russia - Jun. 24 - Dec. 14, 1812
Napoleon, it's too cold, and we are running short on supplies, we might not make it!
Those Russians keep moving before we can reach them! Let keep going, well get them eventually!
After the whole escape scandal, King Louie XVI was charged with treason and sentenced to death. A whole 1 day later, he was executed by guillotine. Nine months later, on October 16th, his wife Marie Antoinette followed a similar fate.
Napoleon quickly rose though the ranks and became Commander of the French Armies in 1796. He along with his army overthrew the unstable government in a Coup D'etat in 1799. He crowned himself Emperor of France in 1805.
Seen as one of the key moments that lead to Napoleon's downfall, his decision to invade Russia in 1812. With an army of 600k, Napoleon entered Russia from the west in June but instead of fighting, the Russians fled and burned their land making it inhabitable. This made Napoleons army suffer and were forced to return with 40k soldiers, a major loss to the french army.
