The Romanof dynasty was the second dynasty to rule Russia. Alexei was the heir to the throne being the only son although he suffered from hemophilia that almost killed him in his childhood but he was saved by Rasputin who was a religious figure. Rasputin was later invited to live with the dynasty as a reward for saving Alexei's life but was murdered by russian nobles.

The first world war was not good for Russia because of Rasputins negative effect on the royal family later having them lose their rule over Russia. Control over Russia was then handed to Lenin who took over the major cities in Russia and established the first communist government.

The Russian revolution happened from poor leadership with the country having three-quarters of the 165 million population be peasants. Also, there was poor representation and limited freedom of expression resulting in republicans democrats and socialists wanting more rights.

Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, and Leon Trotsky were the 3 leaders of the Russian revolution. Lenin was the head of the russian governemnt from 1917 to 1924. Stalin was a soviet politician and he led the soviet union as general secreteary. Trotsky was a soviet politician and a marxist theorist.
Lenin's plan was to have the soviet union achieve a capitalist economy until the economy was strong enough that he could switch it to socialism. And also fix the social changes because there were only peasants, nobles, and Romanovs before.
The USSR was established and all levels of government were controlled by the communist government. This mad Russian the first country in the world to be a Marxist socialism.
