  • This scene portrays Lyddie vs herself because Ezekiel is in her house and is worth a lot of money for his capture, enough for Lyddie to clear the family dept. Yet she is still is a predicament if she should turn him over or not considering the horrible things he has seen as a slave.
  • This portrays Diana vs the rest of society because Diana Goss is infamous for speaking out for better working conditions. Many people think that this is scandalous and should not be talked about. The overseers are mad because that would make them seem bad and the other workers are mad too since that my lower their wages by protesting.
  • This portrays Lyddie vs Mistress Cutler because after she took her friend Triphena´s advice to go and visit her home while Cutler was away and came back to see that the Mintress came back early Lyddie immediately was fired from her job that her mother worked hard to get for her so she could pay off the dept.
