Storyboard Text

  • Today date is February 11th, 1801. Today is the house of Representative chance to vote in the election of 1800. This election ended in a tie between Aaron Burr and Thomas Jefferson. They both got 73 electoral votes.
  • We need Aaron Burr as our third president. Why you may ask, well he has accomplished many great things. He served in the Continental Army and became a lawyer and politician. He has been elected to the New York Assembly twice.
  • I agree with you that Aaron Burr has had great accomplishments, but what about Thomas Jefferson. He was a founding father. He was also just the Vice President under John Adams. Thomas Jefferson also is a very strong politican.
  • Thomas Jefferson is way to sided with his party. George Washington warned us about this. We need someone to stay neutral and lead this country in the right way. Also the public thinks that Burr is really approachable unlike Jefferson.
  • It doesn't matter if he is a sided with his party. That means that he has and idea how to lead this country. We don't want someone like Burr who will just go with the public. Even Hamilton said that he wanted Jefferson instead of Burr. Lets make the right decision.
  • Thomas Jefferson ended up winning the House of Representatives by a vote of ten votes to four votes. The third President of the United States is Thomas Jefferson, while the Vice President will be Aaron Burr.
