Mathilde Loisel and her husband live in France. They’re in the lower-middle class. But, Loisel dreamed to be rich and have many luxurious things.
Take what you want to borrow.
But I love all of them.
Loisel’s husband gets an invitation he asked for. He shows to Loisel but she is not impressed, even though it’s a fancy ball. And it’s a luxurious thing for her to attend.
Hello, whats your name?
Loisel tells why she doesn’t want to go to the ball. Which is because she doesn’t have a nice ballroom dress and jewelry. She uses her husband’s money to buys a dress for herself.
Mathilde did not feel complete without jewelry, so she goes to her rich friend’s house (Madame Foreier) to borrow a piece. Once she tries on the jewelry, she doesn’t want to part from them. She wants try on all that her friend has but, out of all, she chooses a necklace of diamonds.
Mathilde Loisel and her husband go to the ball in the ministry. It was a long and successful night, Loisel was the prettiest woman there. Lots of people walked up to her and asked her who she was. They loved the necklace.
They left at 4 o’clock (Loisel’s husband was sleeping in an anteroom while she was dancing) and it was freezing outside. Loisel didn’t want to be noticed encause she didn’t have expensive fur, like the other women, to wrap in. She had a normal scarf. There were no cabs available so they had to ride in a carriage, cold.
