  • James Madison as President
  • Causes of War
  • But I don't want to!!!
  • You're coming with us and you are joining our navy
  • Battle of Thames
  • I got him!!!
  • Above, James Madison (on the left) is taking an oath into presidency. He will serve as our fourth president of the United States of America, from 1809 to 1817. He will be responsible for war with Britain as he made the recommendation to congress to start the war.
  • Fort McHenry
  • We will not surrender!!!
  • During the French Revolution, England didn't like that we were trading with the French so they boarded any ships they found on the ocean, captured the sailors and forced them to fight in their navy. Another reason that we started war with England is that the British kept supplying the Natives with weapons which led to the Native American Resistance which made it impossible to expand west
  • Battle of New Orleans
  • We have the high ground!!!
  • Above, the Americans are fighting off the indians in the Battle of Thames. Oliver Perry, the commander of the navy in lake Eerie, leads the Americans to defeat the British, he is shown above killing the leader of the Indian Resistance Tecumseh.
  • Effects of war
  • Industry is doing well!!!
  • Fort mcHenry is bombarded as British troops fire in from sea using cannons. But the forts determination to stay standing showed as the fort stood late into the night. A song was written by one of the captured Americans on the boat named Francis Scott Key, about how the fort stood standing called "The Star Spangled Banner."
  • This war was a huge confidence booster for the Americans as they were outnumbered greatly but had the high ground which made it easier for them to fire upon the British. The British had 2000 casualties while the Americans only had 71. Andrew Jackson was considered the war hero because of his leadership and ways of tactics.
  • #1 Industry grows and expands greatly #2 No more Indians which equals safer expansion #3 America proved it was a country to be respected #4 Scense of nationalism sweeps across america #5 Federalists have a meeting for plans to secede from the U.S.
