Martin Luther became one of the most influential and notorious figures in Christian history. Luther questioned some of the basic principles of Roman Catholic church, and his followers soon split from the Roman Catholic Church to begin the Protestant Reformation.

  • The decision to become a monk was difficult and greatly disappointed martin’s father, but he felt he must keep a promise to god. Luther was also driven by fears of hell and God’s wrath, and felt that life in a monastery would help him find salvation.
  • On October 31, 1517, Martin Luther saw priest selling indulgences to the people to help build St. Peter’s Basilica, then Martin to action and nailed a sheet of paper with his 95 Theses on the University of Wittenberg’s chapel door. The 95 Theses were laid outa shocking analysis to the people. Luther also sent a copy to Archbishop Albert Albrecht of Mainz, calling on him to end the sale of indulgences. Aided by the printing press, copies of the 95Theses spread throughout Germany.
  • luther thought that if he changed the Bible to German everyone could understand that the selling of indulgences is not real and that some of the things that the priest said were not real.
  • Now from the occurrence of the reformation, every person from different religions are all free to deside if they want to be religious or not, it does not matter or affect them on anyway. everyone is free to do anything they want to do.
