(expedition) Charlie was an everyday guy in the 60's with an extra-ordinary situation. He was mentally challenged with a low IQ and mindset. He wanted to be smart more than anything, so he volunteered to be an experiment after being recommended to it by his night school teacher.
(Rising action) After many tests and races with a mouse (Algernon had the surguery), Charlie was selected to be used. At first, he seemed the same but slowly he started getting very smart. After a few months, Charlie was a genius.
( Climax) After a while, Algernon died. It showed Charlie that he would soon pass or deteriorate. Charlie looked for a way to change the effects but he couldn't find one. He cut everyone out and locked himself up for a while trying to search for a way.
(Falling action) Charlie got so sad and angry that he cut everyone out of his life, including his old night school teacher who he had been dating.
(Resolution) In the end, Charlie writes a letter to Dr. S saying that he is glad he could make an impact on the world. Charlie realizes that he was made a difference and is happy about that. He does die but he died happily.
