  • The 38th parallel. On one side, communist North Korean, supported by the USSR.
  • Tensions are higher than ever as Koreans on both side want a united government.
  • June,1950. The war begins when North Korean crossed the 38th parallel and invaded in order to try
  • We must stop communism from spreading. With China and the USSR out of the UN, we can use the US Army
  • The wqr was a back and forth. First the North was winning. Then south, led by the MacArthur until he was fired for insubordination and replaced by Bradley. Then another push from North, supported by China.
  • This went on for 2 long years
  • The Statement led to Eisenhower signing a truce. Borders remained exactly like they started. Some questions whether it was worth it.
  • The war sent out a STRONG message: the US would fight to repress communism. It would set the pattern for future Cold war battles.
