- A bill starts with an idea.
- I have an idea! I want to send this to Congress!
- The bill is introduced into the Congress.
- Dear Congress, I want pizza for lunch in school every day. Can you please pass this bill?Sincerely, US Citizen
- Bill then goes to the committee/subcommittee. The committee then tables, rejects, or send the bill to the full chamber of Congress.
- Dear Congress, I want pizza for lunch in school every day. Can you please pass this bill?Sincerely, US Citizen
- We like it! Send it back off to Congress!
- The bill is now discussed and Congress and Senate votes on the bill.
- Majority: Yes
- Both chambers must approve the bill and some changes are usually made for them to agree to pass it.
- Once the bill is finally agreed on it is sent to the President. He can veto or sign it.
