Exposition: Lennie and George are on their way to the ranch. They decided to stop by the pond to eat and sleep before they are back on their way.
Inciting Incident: George and Lennie are on their way to the Ranch when George finds out Lennie has been hiding a dead mouse in his pocket. George yells at Lennie for this but Lennie says that he didn't mean to her just wanted to touch it. Lennie is so strong he killed the mouse without even trying to.
Rising Action: Curley's wife is in the bunk house flirting with all of the men for attention but Curley doesn't know about this. All the men are annoyed but Lennie because he thinks she is pretty.
Climax: Curley's wife invites Lennie to touch her hair but when he doesn't let go she becomes afraid. Lennie doesn't realize what he is doing until she is dead.
Falling Action: Curley finds his wife dead on the barn floor. He knows exactly who did it and is out for revenge.
Resolution: In an attempt to save Lennie from all the torture and horror that is to come he shoots him in the head for a quick death.
