Shouldn't the car which drove into the other be more impacted because it had more acceleration ?
No because forces come in pairs, for every force that is exerted there is a force to stop it. Forces are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. Although the force is equal the car with less mass would accelerate or decelerate more. The smaller the mass, the more the acceleration.
When I leave the ball it will keep on moving because of something called inertia and stops when it hits the board because of the unbalanced forces pushing it back.
