Poor little Eugene lived in a crowded region of chromosome 3. They called this region the heterochromatin because him and his gene friends were never transcribed.
I wish we would get transcribed. The RNA polymerase always seems to skip us. The genes that live in the Euchromatin always get transcribed.
One day, a group of acetyl visited the heterochromatin. They brought about many changes. Eugene began to notice how his town was become less populated.
We are transforming into a euchromatin community!
Yes! That means we may get transcribed!
RNA polymerase no longer passed over Eugene. He was transcribed and the RNA polymerase delivered his unique knowledge to the ribosome. Eugene felt important and special. He was glad he could contribute to the cell.
Tell me your special knowledge.
