Day in a Life

Storyboard Text

  • Hi! My name is Ziva and this is a day in my life in 1954.
  • I go to school in my town. It is not the only school in my town
  • Whites only!
  • This school only allows African American students to attend
  • We also don't have equal schools between black and white students.
  • I attend class with other black students. There are no white students in my class
  • I am allowed to sit in the front of the bus because I am white.
  • After school I'm going to get some food at the diner. I take the bus, but I have to sit in the back.
  • I can't go into this diner to get food because it has a sign that says 'whites only'.
  • This is called segregation.
  • The laws don't allow for the mixing of races.
  • Hopefully these laws will change soon and I will be allowed to do the same things as white people.
