  • This separates the settlers and Indians. The Indians must stay to the west of a border going through the crest of the Appalachian mountains while the settlers must stay to the east.
  • The Townshend Acts
  • you must pay tax now.
  • Great Britain had major debts to pay off so they made this act to make Americans pay for it. This act forces colonists to pay for a stamp for each individual piece of paper they used. Many colonists were furious about this because it was passed without colonial representation.
  • The Boston Massacre
  • This act forces people to allow soldiers into their homes for shelter and they must provide for them and tend to them. Colonists protested this because it was at their expense.
  • The Boston Tea Party
  • These acts forced people to pay tax on goods that they used daily. The items were imported from Great Britain. These included glass, paint, paper, and tea. Many people were upset about being taxed for this and believed they didnt deserve to be.

  • Violence arose in Boston when colonists and soldiers broke out into a fight the night of march 5th, 1770. The soldiers ended up killing five colonists by shooting out into the crowd in order to protect themselves.
  • The Boston tea party was caused by the tea act. On December 16, 1773, Gov. Thomas Hutchenson demanded that three tea ships be unloaded. They refused to do so and instead dumped 90,000 pounds of tea into the harbor
