Exposition - We meet and somewhat learn about the king, (one of) his daughters, and the frog. We also learn that the general setting of this story is partially in the king’s castle, and the dark forest beside it with a well within.
I hope Maria is safe in the forest without her 2 sisters that are in the castle.
I love my plaything!
Inciting Action - The youngest princess is playing with her golden ball over near the well when the ball falls into it. A frog comes out and retrieves her plaything under one condition: they must from then on do everything together.
Oh no! My golden ball has fallen down the well. Wait! There is something else down there!
Continued - This is continued from the inciting action.
I will retrieve your plaything, but you must be my playmate and I yours.
Yes! I will! Thank you!!
Rising Action - The young girl unwillingly agrees to the deal, but is later unhappy about it when she finds out the frog is serious about every last word of it.
What was that? And where are your sisters?
I don't know either of those answers, but I'll find out.
Continued - This is continued from the rising action.
What are you doing here!?
You owe me your friendship!
Climax - The maiden doesn’t want to keep the deal, but her father makes her because it would be very disloyal of her, and it would also be cheating yourself out of a sort of pact.
