  • Since there was no school in Browns Bay, a temporary one was started 
  • on Clyde rd. There had to be at least 10 kids attending to keep it open.
  • In 1900 there was were only half a dozen families live in Browns Bay.
  • In saying that by 1900 several holiday makers began to travel to 
  • Browns Bay. Peter and Mary Brown provided accomodation in
  • There residence.
  • As well as several holiday makers coming in, there was a number of 
  • permanent residents arriving. To support Browns Bay got new
  • stores, churches, a permanent school, and houses.
  • THE 
  • The tipping point for Browns Bay was becoming a suburb of Auckland rather
  • than the beach resort it once was. This event happened in the
  • Browns Bay
  • late 1950's with the completion of the harbor bridge.
  • END.
