I don't have enough layers on to be out here, I'm actually really cold.
My hairs are literally standing up, I really need to go warm up.
I'm feeling a lot better now that I'm warm- my hairs even went back down!
Receptors in the skin send sensory information to the brain, telling it that the body is cold.
Since hairs on the skin gain more warmth when standing up straight, nerves send messages throughout the skin to make them stand up.
Seeing that the body is back to its normal temperature, the hairs lie flat again.
