"I'd rather you shot tin cans in the backyard, but I know you'll go after bids. Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit'em, but remember it's a sin to kill a mockingbird."
"It's just like shooting a mockingbird."
Jem and Scout learn an important lesson from their father, who teaches them a lesson in respecting others who don't bother you.
On Halloween night, Jem and Scout were returning home from their school's pageant. While walking home, they're attacked by a mysterious figure who's later revealed to be Bob Ewell. He attempted to murder both of the children, until another mysterious fiqure arrives and saves the children.
When both of the children are home, the savior is revealed to be Boo Radley. Atticus is questioning what happened and even questions about Boo, though the sheriff defends Boo by trying not to get him involved with the case, respecting Boo's nature. Scout catches this and confronts Atticus and with what she had learned from him.
