Spare my life please!
Grendel, a giant man-eating monster, is coming to Herot. He is hoping to find some people to eat. He doesn't know that Beowulf is waiting for him there.
Grednel drank blood from his veins. He also ripped them apart and cut their bodies to pieces. When his teeth came together, he was snapping life shut.
Beowulf pretends to sleep. He asks his band of men to protect him while he is "sleeping". When Grendel comes, they all hack their swords at him.
Beowulf was slashing his sword at Grendel, but nothing is happening. Beowulf doesn't give up and he keeps trying to cut his hands.
Soon, Grendal's power had gone. Grendel escaped and fled back to his den. However, his arm had been cut off by Beowulf.
The Danes were very proud after they defeated Grendel. They even hung his arm on the ceiling to use as proof.
