  • Little tree, little tree, shake over me, That silver and gold may come down and cover me".
  • When her mother died Aschenputtle tried to visit her grave daily.
  • Once her father remarried, she was forced to live with 3 new people (her step-mother, and her 2 step-sisters). Her step-mother and step-sisters took away all her fancy dress and shoes and gave her an old gray dress and wooden shoes.
  • When the night of the balls came Aschenputtel went to her mothers' grave and cried a poem "Little tree, little tree, shake over me, That silver and gold may come down and cover me". After she said this poem a little birds floated down a dress of gold and silver and a pair of slippers.
