Storyboard Text

  • Hey Josh, have you ever wondered how cows are able to make milk?
  • You know cows didn't always produce milk.
  • This is going to be interesting!
  • What?! No way!
  • I can explain more about cows and how they've changed.
  • I never knew that!
  • The cows we know are typically black and white and are a source of meat and milk.
  • But what's really different about our domestic cows is that they have been artificially selected and bred, crazy right?!
  •  Many cows were artificially bred to produce a high milk yield, which is lactation production.
  • Yes, precisely.
  • So farmers were looking for a way to produce more milk?
  • Other traits that were selected where high milk quality, long lactation periods, large udders, and etc.
  • Semen was once collected from the best bulls and was used to artificially inseminate the female cows.
  • Oh, I get it, the generations after these cows would only be more productive and useful for farmers, which is why they artificially select them.
  • Farmers also looked for cows that produced the most milk and only bred those in hopes to pass down their genes onto their offspring.
  • As you can see, wild cows are very different from domesticated ones; their physical appearances are very different.
  • I see, wild cows are built and more adapted to the wilderness, as domesticated cows are raised in farms and aren't fit for the wilderness
