There is a new tax on printed paper so that is more expensive.
The Boston Massacre
The British soldiers were in the colonies to protect the colonists. They needed a place to stay. A law was then passed saying that colonists had to let soldiers stay with them.
The Boston Tea Party
Colonists have to pay a tax on all printed paper to pay off the British's debts. Some colonists refused to buy printed paper.
The Intolerable Acts
The soldiers and colonists were both mad at each other. The colonists started throwing rocks at the soldiers. The soldiers were not happy and fired their guns.
The colonists were mad because the British forced them to only buy their tea. The colonists protested by throwing the tea in the harbor. They dressed up as Native Americans so the red coats would not know it was them.
The British passed laws to punish the colonists. One of the laws closed Boston Harbor, but the other colonists sent them supplies. 12 colonies gathered to discuss the problems. This was called the first Continental Congress.
