William Jennings Bryan was chosen as a Democrat. He was known for as a great commander because he appealed to the average Joe and believed in the farmer cause
William Mckinley was chosen as a Republican. He was screwed politician and opposed free silver.
There was an economic depression that slowed business in the 1890's. Voters believed that good times were coming and put their trust in Mckinley who represented stability.
McKinley won with 271 electoral votes to Bryan's 176 electoral votes, the populist party received 0 electoral votes.
I William McKinley is now president.
