Storyboard Text

  • Bloody Sunday
  • They aren't backing off.
  • We'll have to shoot them!
  • The Czar Steps Down
  • They demand you step down.
  • They are forcing me to abdicate my throne! I just want to live a normal life with my family.
  • Bolshevik Revolution
  • You now can own farmland, and control your own factories!
  • In 1905, 200,000 workers went to the Winter Palace to protest for better working conditions and wages. What happened was the Czar, Nicholas II, was not at the Winter Palace at the time. When the workers arrived there was no Czar present to discuss their problems with. The guards decided to take matters into their own hands in the Czar's absence. The workers peacefully marched in while the guards began to open fire, killing many innocent Russians.
  • Lenin Restores Order
  • I'd like to introduce my New Economic Policy where it allows the lower class to sell their own goods.
  • After the March Revolution in 1917, people demanded that the Czar abdicate his throne. After 300 years of the Romanov Dynasty, Czar Nicholas II is forced to step down. With the Czar stepping down it shows the power that the Bolsheviks had over the Czar, and a sign that the Revolution was a success. With the Czar stepping down it is a clean slate to build a new nation. About a year later, after stepping down from his throne, the Czar and his family were murdered.
  • USSR & Communist Party
  • Since I've turned Russia into a series of republics, let's change Russia's title to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
  • Lenin is now in power and overthrows the previous provisional government. He gives more power to the people by giving farmland and letting workers control factories. In 1918, Lenin signs a treaty with Germany, giving them a large amount of their territory. Many were upset about giving land to Germany and their overall control, and began to speak out against the Bolsheviks. Later on the Bolsheviks will try to defeat these new enemies.
  • Stalin Comes Into Power
  • Lenin is currently the head of the Bolsheviks and is in power. As of right now Russia's economy is in horrible condition, and needs to improve soon. Lenin comes up with the New Economic System(NEP) to bring Russia back on its feet. This economic system allows peasants to sell and make profit off their own crops instead of handing them over to the government, gives the government authority over the big corporations and banks, allows small businesses to be owned, and strongly encourages people to participate in foreign investment. With Lenin's New Economic System, the Russian economy improves in just a few years.
  • The USSR and the Communist Party were big changes of Russian society at its time. Lenin had turned Russia into many republics, later changing its name. Russia's name was changed to the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, the USSR. The Bolshevik's title was also changed to the Communist Party. The Communist Party was given all the power over Russia.
  • After Lenin died, Stalin fought to take charge. By 1928 Stalin received total control over the Union of Soviet Socialists Republics. He killed many who got in his way, and was a strict ruler. Stalin established a secret police to spy on his citizens, making sure no one was to betray him. Stalin also took advantage of propaganda, convincing the many Russians that he was a kind and generous leader.
  • If anyone goes against the Communist Party, they shall be eliminated!
