  • Thousands of migrants, mostly from Haiti, travel together to the Del Rio International Bridge which is on the border of Texas, USA and Ciudad Acuña, Mexico.
  • Migrants gathered under the Del Rio International Bridge seeking the U.S. Border Patrol and asylum.
  • Families have been staying in tents under the bridge to protect themselves from the heat. They wait for the police to take them into asylum and be processed.
  • Some families have to sleep on dirt because they didn't have the resources to carry with them on their long journey.
  • Migrants seeking asylum from the police were treated poorly and being chased by police on horseback. Images released on social media showed the treatment and many people had different opinions on the matter.
  • Locals in DEl Rio also have mixed emotions about the immigrants. Some people don't want them in "their" town while others are okay with new people moving in.
  • President Biden addressed the treatment of the Haitians by the police as "outrages". He tells the people that there will be consequences to the police's actions.
  • People are not happy with how Biden is handling the immigrants. They think he needs to be stricter with the laws and how people are being processed.
  • Around 15,000 migrants were at the bridge in total. Only about 2,000 were processed and let into the United States.
  • As of January 2022 there are no more people at the border.
  • Thousands of migrants voluntarily went to Mexico after not being able to be processed. Others were flown back to Haiti.
