Storyboard Text

  • Clarisse and Montag are having a conversation about the past of firemen. Clarisse is convinced firemen put out fire while Montag say it's impossible.
  • Strange. I heard once that a long time ago houses used to burn by accident and they needed firemen to stop the flames.
  • No. Houses have always been fireproof, take my word for it.
  • Montag wonders why Clarisse doesn't go to school or hang out with kids her age. Clarisse says how she isn't accepted in this society and doesn't understand their preferences.
  • Why aren’t you in school? I see you every day wandering around.
  • I’m antisocial, they say. I don’t mix. It’s so strange. I’m very social indeed. It all depends on what you mean by social, doesn’t it?
  • Montag gets curious about why books are burned and why they must be illegal. Clarisse also starts getting suspicious and is questioning the "truth" the government is hiding.
  • I think they are hiding something from us...
  • As Clarisse ran on the street after the firemen came, a car drove by. She faced a horrible death in front of Montag, who was traumaized for life.
  • Why do you think books are illegal and must be burned?
  • Uncle reveals a big secret about the burden of having books. Because of his old age, he passed it to Clarisse to protect.
  • YOU WERE HIDING BOOKS ALL THIS TIME?
  • These are all the books I've been hiding my entire life, it's all yours now!
  • Someone caught Clarisse having books and were brought to the fireman's notice. They then plan to burn her books just like the others.
  • No don't take away my books!
  • We were reported that you had illegal books in your house!
  • NO CLARISSE
  • Sorry to leave you on your own Montag, I hope you can protect my books.
