In Chapter 16, The monster takes refuge to Geneva after The De Lacy family leaves their cottage in horror after witnessing him.
The monster saw a little girl running and playing. When, "...her foot slipped, and she fell into the rapid stream." She tripped and started to drowning into the current. The monster saved her and dragged her to shore.
The man who the girl was being chased by grabbed the girl from the arms of the monster. "...when the man saw me draw near, he aimed a gun, which he carried, at my body and fired." The monster got shot and ran into the woods.
When he found his way to Geneva, the monster was very depressed. Not even the nature around him could cheer him up. He saw a boy in he fields and decided to make the kid his friend. The boy screamed in horror, despite the monsters hope for him to be not horrified of him.
The monster grabs the boy and tells him to come with him so the creature could have a companion. The boy threatens him with the rath of his father, M. Frankenstein.
The monster realizes that the boy is related to his creator and he starts to choke the boy until he dies in his arms. The monster is delighted knowing he got revenge on Victor for creating him and abandoning him.
