Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • I'll check to see if the other neighborhood is having the same issue.
  • I think he power stopped working.
  • Conflict
  • The kid tells us a comic book plot, and we stand here listening?!?
  • They won't let you. Please don't go!
  • Rising Action
  • You're all frightened little rabbits, you!
  • On a quiet suburban street, Maple Street, a meteor-like-object flies overhead, along with a roar. All the power stops. Pete van Horn leaves to the next neighborhood to see if they are experiencing the same problem.
  • Climax
  • Oh no...
  • *Grunt*
  • Tommy says the only explanation for this is that whatever was in the unidentified flying object was controlling the power, and that they wouldn't let the people out of the street when Steve said he and Charlie would go check out the other street. Then he says that the aliens are among them. The people don't believe in the idea at first.
  • Falling Action
  • Stop...
  • Just leave them in the dark for a while, and watch the pattern.
  • Les Goodman's car starts up unexpectedly, and the others begin suspecting him and his family of being aliens. When a woman says she sees him sometimes in the early morning, looking at the sky, the people decide to supervise the Goodmans. Next they get suspicious of Steve, who's wife says that he works on a radio at night. They wonder who he talks to.
  • Resolution
  • So we understand the procedure now?
  • Charlie shoots Pete van Horn when he walks into view across the street, thinking that he is a monster. Everyone accuses Charlie of being a monster, and the lights go on his house, further evicting him. Then Charlie says the monster is Tommy, and everyone accuses each other.
  • Someone says Bob Weaver is the alien, lights flash in many houses, people grab weapons, and there is general destruction and chaos.
  • The screen zooms out to a shot of the aliens, who discuss the pattern on how to destroy humans. Their method is to leave them in the dark for a while, then turn on a few lights and wait for them to kill each other.
