Storyboard Description

Utility bills are getting expensive by the day, especially electricity. The average residential electricity prices in US in the first half of 2014 increased by 3.2% from the first half of 2013. In New England itself, the average residential electricity prices increased by 11.8% (according to a survey conducted by the US government in 2014). These electricity utility bills are projected to increase further. This has been a major concern for the people. Making buildings self sufficient in terms of electricity will drive down the spending on electricity utility to almost zero. In fact, producing more power than necessary for the building will give the owners the opportunity to sell the electricity back to the grid.

Storyboard Text

  • I just got my electricity bill! It has increased.
  • Mine too! It's increasing steeply. My consumption hasn't increased drastically, yet I face an upward bill.
  • I wish there was a way to decrease my power usage.
  • I'm planning to install solar panels. I might just sign up with a solar power provider.
  • I wish I could do that. I live in an apartment and it's a trouble getting everyone on board for it.
  • Yes, I know!
  • Well, I got my bills downwards without signing up for solar panels or dealing with others!
  • How?
  • I had my windows and roofs replaced by transparent solar cells. I now enjoy the same view and generate electricity at the same time!
  • We want it too!
