  • Causes of the Persian War
  • Battle of Marathon
  • This run is going to take longer than i thought!
  • Battle of Thermopylae
  • By 500 b.c.e, the Persian Empire had conquered all of fertile crescent and Asia minor. Several Ionian greek city-states decided to revolt. The Ionian Greeks asked for help from Greeks on the main land. King Darius I of Persia was angry that the Athenians had helped the Ionians, Persia declared war on Athens and its allies in 492 b.c.e.
  • Battle of Salamis
  • The battle of marathon involved Persia and Athens, it was in 490 b.c.e. Pheidippides, (Runner), warned Athens of the Persians coming. Athens won because of their formation strategy.
  • Battle of Plateau
  • WE WON!!
  • The battle of Thermopylae was fought by persia, athens, and sparta. It was in 480 b.c.e. Xerxes lead his army into Thermopylae. Leanidas tries to hold them off but all 300 die. King Leonidas loses most of his army. Persia wins this battle.
  • Effects of the war
  • It's the golden age
  • Persia and Athens fought this battle it was in 480 b.c.e. The Athenens trick persia into fighting in a narrow water way. Persian ships are huge so they cannot get out. Athens wins this battle
  • This was the last battle of the war. It was 479 b.c.e. The Greeks defeated the persions that were left behind to fight. Athens fought with many allies. This was the end of the war Athens won.  
  • Athens created the Delian league: an alliance with the other city-states to protect themselves if Persia ever again invaded. Athens rebuilt their city-state more splendorous than ever, and experienced its Golden Age.
