Alex is leaving his office Thursday night after working into the evening
Alex arrives home at 8:30 PM to hear that his basement tenant, Jordan, has guests over who are being particularly loud
An hour passes and Alex wants to tell tenant that he would prefer if they do not have guests over because it’s disruptive to his irregular working hours, and he thought that the size of the unit implied that there was no room for guests.
Alex opens his Rent Rite app to send message to Jordan. He selects "send alert to tenant", and sees a drop-down menu of topics for alerts/complaints. Alex selects "noise".
Prompting questions ask Alex what the source of the noise is, providing the options: "television/music", "walking/stomping", "excessive noise after 11pm", "noise from party", "yelling", "other". Alex selects "noise from party".
Rent Rite alerts Alex that the lease agreement on file between him and Jordan does not have a "Quiet Hours Policy". It subsequently notifies him of Toronto By-Law 591-2, which pertains to noise between 11pm and 7am, letting Alex know that this may apply if the noise is occurring within those hours. It then asks whether the event is occurring within these hours.
