Storyboard Text

  • O'Brien is like me. The black haired girl is suspicious.
  • Thoughtcrime?
  • My dad is a criminal!
  • At the book's first depiction of Two Minutes Hate, Winston notices two people: a strangely preppy but ominous black-haired girl and O'Brien, someone who seems to share the same rebellious ideals that Winston has.
  • Winston sneakily buys a blank book he scribbles thoughtcrime-worthy messages in. The telescreen can't see him.
  • Jones, Aaronson, Rutherford?
  • Winston recounts that children in their current society don't unconditionally love their parents like how we do today. Instead, children spy and report their parents to the Thought Police if even at the slightest facecrime.
  • Murder or suicide?
  • Winston tries to recount the past. He knows he had a mother, father, and baby sister, but they all disappeared. He believes his mother sacrificed herself to protect him. He can't remember much though.
  • Winston finds physical proof that the Party has been lying to its citizens. However, he destroys it.
  • Winston finds out the black haired girl is spying on him and contemplates whether to kill her or kill himself.
