This is Leo. Leo lives in a small town located in ireland, currently being hit hard by the great potato famine
Leo enjoys his hometown, but he is currently unemployed due to the famine. He was a farmer who sold his crops and liked to grow his own food.
Leo is 19 years old, has a minimal education, and is looking for new ways to support himself.
After a lot of thinking and planning, he finally decides to move to america in hopes for a better life.
Time to experience the American Dream!
Leo quickly realized he was not the only one with his mindset, his boat to america was full of others just like him. Unfortunately, that meant a very crowded, dirty, and uncomfortable ride. Leo also got occasional sea sickness.
After arriving in america, his options were limited. He could only afford a small room in boston, with one small bed and bathroom, and a minimal kitchen. The building itslef was not in the best shape.
Leo did not receive a warm welcome. Many americans only saw Leo as a burden, taking away their jobs and overcrowding the cities. He did not have many people to support him.
Lucky for Leo, he was not a religious man. Religious tension was manifesting in america during the time.
Leo decided to take up a job pushing carts, since he had a decent build, and didn't mind the labor. He received just enough to barely put food on his table, and was very careful with his money.
Leo was one of the lucky ones. Many of his fellow immigrants were unable to find work, and died in poverty. Leo knew that this was not the American Dream, but it was the closest he would get for a very long time
