Storyboard Text

  • But I'm only 6!
  • You have to go to the cotton factory
  • Come on it's time for work
  • In 1851, more than 500,000 of Britain's children were working in horrible jobs like factories.
  • In cotton mills, dust from the yarn often got in workers throats. Also, to make sure the cotton was strong, the owners kept their mills warm and damp. This meant workers suffered lung infections.
  • Your working too slowly! Take that!
  • Children in factories were often beaten when doing their work too slowly or made mistakes.
  • My hand! It has been chopped off!!!!
  • Many workers were killed or badly injured by the machines.
  • Get back here you!!!
