  • A lot of people were in debt from the former revolutionary war.
  • Here, in Independence Hall, the new Constitution is being signed.
  • Shays' Rebellion was an armed uprising in Massachusetts, mostly in and around Springfield during 1786 and 1787.
  • There were many weaknesses to the AOC. Here are the main ones: 1. Congress could not collect taxes from the states. 2. Congress could not regulate trade between states or with foreign countries. 3. Congress had no power to enforce its own laws in the states. 4. There was no judicial branch; no separate, national court system. 5. There was no separate executive branch for the central government. 6. Amendments to the Articles required unanimous vote of all 13 state legislatures. 
  • BUT... These amendments changed these weaknesses: - Article I, Section 8 - Article II, Section 3 - Article III, Section 1 - Article II, Section 1 - Article V: The Congress

  • A confederation is a system of government in which sovereign states delegate power to a central government for specific purposes.
