The Voting Rights Act of 1965 eliminated many obstacles that were hindering Black Americans from exercising their rights to vote. Some of these obstacles included were Poll taxes and Literacy tests.
Affirmative Action was passed by Lyndon Baines Johnson in the 1960s. This action forced many businesses, colleges, etc. to abide by a quota of employees of minority status. This was passed to help assist minorities in having equal chances for education and employment purposes.
