  • Set in the 1800's in Paris, France. Madame Loisel is  a middle-class women who desperately wants a better social life, and one day she gets an invitation to a ball.
  • Climax
  • Madame Loisel turns down the invitation because she thinks that she is poor and doesn't have anything to wear, but then her husband gives her some money to buy herself a dress and tells her to ask her friend madame Forestier if she can borrow a necklace.
  • Falling Action
  • At the party Madame Loisel was the most beautiful women there and every man wanted to meet her, she was having the best time of her life and after the party she and her husband rush out into the street to try and find a cab, after wandering around town they finally find one at the docks and once they reach their home Madame Loisel realizes that she lost the necklace that she borrowed from her friend.
  • Resolution
  • After they realize that the necklace is gone madame Loisel writes to madame Forestier that they are having the necklace repaired and after that madame loisel's husband uses some loans and money he inherited to pay for a new necklace.
  • After they buy a bew necklace the Loisel's return it to madame Forestier and after that the Loisels go into a life of poverty 
  • After 10 years of paying back the loans used to buy the necklace th Loisels had fallen into a life of poverty and one day madame Loisel who now looked like an old women was taking a walk and during her walk she stumbled upon an old friend madame Forestier who still looked as young and beautiful as ever. Madame Loisel approached madame Forestier who at first didn't recognize her and she told her everything that happened with the necklace. Madame Forestier chuckled and said that the original necklace was actually made of paste.
