Storyboard Text

  • Flashback
  • "Seated on the wood pile in Betsy Johnsons cellar" (Plath 9)
  • Similie
  • "The basement was dark and warm like the inside of a sealed jar" (Plath1)
  • Characterization
  • "...And then decided not join the sorority after all." (plath 9)
  • Milicent sits on a log pile while recalling her past decisions. As is sitting there she thinks of what she went through to get into the sorority and how much she would have had to change herself. However she never went into the sorority.
  • Symbol
  • "Heather birds eyebrows on toast." (Plath 8)
  • Milicent was put in the basement that she compared to a sealed jar because she could not see and was unaware of her surroundings. We here this as the first sentance as she gets an egg cracked over her head for initiation.
  • Theme
  • "The other victory would be much harder, but she knew it was what she wanted" (Plath 9)
  • Milicent is a round character. This is because she changed during the story. In the beginning all she wanted was to get into the sorority, she would do anything and everything to accomplish that. However by the end of the story she did not join the sorority because she did not want to change herself.
  • Quote
  • In this part of initiation Milicent has to go down the aisles of the bus and ask people what they had for breakfast. One person gives her an interesting answer and talks about a heather bird. This bird is not like the normal group of sparrows and is different from everyone else. This is like Milicent in the story because she stays true to herself and unique.
  • The theme of this story is to always stay true to your self no matter what. In many cases, like Milicents in the story, it might be hard when everyone else is trying to change you. She tried to be like everyone else but noticed she needs to stay herself and she won't join if they don't accept her for herself.
  • In this scene i showed Milicent being "coronated" into the sorority. However she looks very unhappy because the person who was being initiated was not herself. That is why she did not end up joining the sorority.
  • "The easiest of which would be her coronation as a princess, labeling her conclusively as part of the secret flock." (Plath 9)
