Railways were invented for the purpose of carrying larger masses in quicker times, as the wheels that ran on the grooves of the rail required less energy for better speed.
People also started to travel by railway as it was cost effective and efficient . The railway led to the invention of the steam engine, developed by Thomas Newcomen and and created by James Watt in 1781.
