  • Henry Flipper's graduation in the U.S. Military School.
  • Henry Flipper fights for Texas.
  • Henry Flipper is relieved from service.
  • Henry O. Flipper was born on March 21, 1856. He attended Atlanta University, where he was later appointed to go to the United States Military School, and became the first African American to graduate there.
  • Working in El Paso 
  • In January 1878 Henry O. Flipper was assigned to Company A of the Tenth United States Calvary. He served as an officer at many forts in Texas. During the Victorio campaign He fought in 2 battles and was promoted to post quartermaster because of what he did. 
  • Henry goes to live with his brother
  • When William Rufus Shafter became commanding officer at Fort Davis he wanted to get rid of Henry Flipper, so he relieved him as quartermaster. Henry O. Flipper was relieved from service on June 30, 1882 so he went to live in El Paso and became an assistant engineer.
  • Henry Flippers death
  • Henry Flipper stayed in El Paso until 1883 as an engineer, and in 1887 he opened up a civil and mining engineering office in Arizona. Beginning in 1901 he spent 11 years in northern mexico as an engineer and legal mining assistant to mining companies.
  • Henry retired in 1931 and went to live with his brother Joseph Flipper 
  • Henry flipper died of a heart attack on May 3, 1940.
