Storyboard Text

  • Sam the sulfur loved his Science Class today, He would like to learn more about chemical bonding.
  • I really liked learning about sulfur, its cool that it has 6 valence electrons and its in the Oxygen group
  • Well you see, Ions are electrically charged particles formed when atoms lose or gain electrons
  • What are Ions, and how do they form?
  • What do you have to do in order to gain electrons?
  • You would have to share electrons
  • Yea honey, Sulfur can bond with any metal to make an ionic compound.
  • Hey Mom, Do you know what element can sulfur bond with to form a ionic compound?
  • A covalent bond is where two atoms share an electrons, and when two non-metals mix they form a covalent bond.
  • Hey dad, what is a covalent bond, what type of elements form covalent bonds?
  • Hey sis, What do covalent bonds form? When two of the same element, form a covalent bond what is it called?
  • Its called a diotomic atom.
