  • Exposition
  • Main Conflict
  • Rising Action
  • Young main character who likes to fish at the cottage has a crush on the older neighbor girl Sheila Mant, who is very self centered
  • Climax
  • The main character gains the courage to ask the girl to the concert. To everyone's surprise she agrees to go with him.
  • Falling Action
  • They go by canoe much to the chagrin of Sheila. The main character brings fishing rod by impulse and gets a huge bass on. He has to hide it from the complaining Sheila who hates fishing
  • Resolution
  • They arrive at the concert and main character has to decide whether to reel it in and lose her or cut the line and go with her. He cuts the line and goes to the concert.
  • Shortly after arriving Sheila leaves him for the older rower Eric Caswell and goes home with him in Eric's corvette. Main character is filled with regret
  •  The main character later vows to never let a girl get in the way of something he loves to do.
