The Narrator tells Fortunato about the Amontillado. He demands to go to the vaults and search for the Amontillado. They observe all the "wed work" and the mold in the vault. Fortunato has a severe cough and the narrator insists he goes back
The Narrator hands Fortunato wine. The wine is affecting the way Fortunato is acting. The Narrator insists they go back out of the tunnels because of Fortunatos cough.
The Narrator tells Furtonato he is a Mason. He starts to pull out a tool but replaces it back because Furtonato wanted to keep moving. They find a wall with bones scattered everywhere.
The Narrator tells Fortunato the Amontillado is near. He tells Furtonato the Amontillado is in that crypt. He strikes Furtonato and chains him down. As Furtonato is confused the Narrator builds a wall to the crypt
Furtonato arises from his unconsciousness and the Narrator hears him struggling with the chains and stops building. Once he hears the struggling top he begins building the wall again. As he is finishing the wall he hears Furtonato struggle to say something as he coughed and went silent. The Narrator threw a torch in the room and Furtonato was dead.
