  • Elie Wiesel is a 12-year-old boy who lived in Sighet until the Germans started taking Jews from their homes.

  • Elie and his father were walking up to the first concentration camp. Elie said, "It smelled like burning corpses." Pg.
  • Elie was happy when he heard the explosion of the Red Army. 
  • Elie had to run through the snow to go to another camp because the Red Cross was liberation. The Nazi soldiers were telling the Jews that if they stopped running they would be shot.
