  • the fur trade was started in the 1500s and ended in 1834. that's over 200 years of fur trading!
  • AH! please don't hurt me!
  • the french were trying to find asia so they could trade for their goods. the french were SOOOOOO happy, they didn't even know they were in michigan!
  • the traders came to trade the furs for guns, pots, and pans. they both got what they wanted. why did they want the furs so badly you ask? well in france, beavers were gone. in michigan, there was a lot of beavers and other animals.
  • we have finally made it back to europe
  • even though the fench tried to make friends with all the natives, some were still angry at there new business partners.
  • because the natives didn't like the french they would attack the french forts. the natives would fire their bows and arrows and the french would return fire with their rifles.
  • after the trade was done, they would ship the furs off back to europe to be sold.
