During the mid 1600's at Carnival Montresor was planning on seeking his revenge of Fortunato when he was intoxicated. Fortunato didn't expect what was in stored for him that night.
Montresor (narrator) and Fortunato were close friends until a devastating event had occurred. They met at Carnival and Fortunato was drunk and didn't know what was coming for him.
Fortunato had mentioned an insulting comment to Montresor. Montresor took the comment to extreme and wanted to plan revenge.
Montresor leaded Fortunato down the stairs to his catacombs to show him his wine collection. While secretly planning his revenge in the catacombs.
Montresor forcefully chained Fortunato to the wall and built a another wall and left him there to die alive. Montresor had no regrets on his revenge on Fortunato.
