  •  Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He was born on Oct. 27, 1858 and died on Jan. 6, 1919. Theodore Roosevelt was 1st president in the time period we call the Progressive Era.  
  • TRUST BUSTERS!!!
  • The way Theodore Roosevelt became president was an interesting story. At the time William McKinley was president and Theodore was the vice president. McKinley was then assassinated and Theodore became president.

  • One of Theodore's acts as president was to designate stops in the U.S. to a National Park areas like Crater Lake National Park,  Wind Cave National Park, and Sully Hill. He then banned Christmas Trees in the White House, because he wanted to save trees.

  • Theodore Roosevelt was known as a trust buster. A trust buster is someone he breaks apart trusts businesses.
  • Working in meat factories was very unsafe.  The factories were dirty. The workers has to work long hours, they got low wages, some even died. This forced Theodore to pass the Pure Food and Drug Act. This made the conditions better for workers.
  • Theodore also recommended William Taft to be the next president and Taft won the next election.
